“We are committed to fight for peace, equality, justice and socialism in Leicester. Join us”
250 people turned up for a covid safe, socially distanced protest at clock tower, Leicester at 1pm Saturday. It was called for by the ‘kill the bill’ coalition. It was called in response to the recent attacks on protest including the vigil for Sarah Everard, police attacks in Bristol, and the new police, crime, and courts bill.
It was supported by many socialist groups, Black Lives Matter protesters, and Extinction rebellion protesters. There was a samba band, slogans, and a session of open mic speakers from organisations and speaking individually. It lasted at least two hours and was very visible. The task now is to unite the strikes and street movements in Leicester and fight to smash the police, crime, and courts bill for good.
